Meet Jared Hoggan - a third generation rancher with a passion for regenerative ranching practices and preserving America’s rich ranching heritage.
In 2017, after several years in traditional ranching and organic crop inspection, Jared came back to help his father run the family ranching operation full time. He launched The Grassfed American label, creating a storefront for new grassfed skincare and pet products in addition to the phenomenal beef of the Flying H Ranch.
Our cattle are raised naturally on our Idaho pastures free from additives, growth hormones, grains, antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides or animal by-products.

Our Background

Jared has worn several hats throughout his life but always had a passion for agriculture and deep pride for his family’s ranching heritage. In 2017, he came back to help run the family ranch full time and never looked back. His background in traditional farming, seed sourcing and distribution, and organic crop inspection gives him valuable insights on both sides of the agricultural spectrum, shaping the regenerative ranching practices he employs on the ranch today.
Jared deploys a “from the ground up” ranching philosophy, beginning with soil health and comprehensive pasture management strategies, ending with the delivery of wholesome, nutritious, ethically-raised American beef right to your doorstep. When he isn’t out soil-testing or planning next season’s cover crop, Jared can be found riding fences on one of his favorite horses and checking on the herd.

The Original Ranch History
The Hoggan family has been dedicated to producing high-quality grassfed Black Angus beef for decades, passing down their knowledge and passion for ranching through the generations. Starting first with Grandpa Hoggan, continuing on with Brad Hoggan since 1972, and now being picked up by Jared in 2017, the Flying H Ranch has become a robust ranching operation spanning three generations.
Ranching has always been a central part of the Hoggan family history. In fact, Jared spent the first part of his childhood on a large ranch out in Snowville, Utah, exploring the countryside on horseback and helping work cattle between his chores.
Nowadays, the ranching operation is based out of beautiful Downey, Idaho where the Hoggan Family marries traditional ranching with modern regenerative methods. The focus on soil health and rotational grazing enables robust Summer hay production, allowing for plenty of feed to be stashed away to sustain the cattle over the winter months. This means that the Flying H Ranch is able to support the cattle throughout their entire lifecycle, feeding protein-rich, nutrient-dense grass and forage directly from the ranch year round, producing beef that is truly grassfed and grass finished from beginning to end.
